There are two scout campsites in the District, one at Crossways (Brownjohns Copse) and one at Beaminster (Scoutland)

Both sites are perfect for smaller Group Camps or sections and offer excellent access to footpaths and bridleways making them ideal for walking, cycling and DofE practice hikes as well as being a short distance from the splendid Jurassic Coastline.

You will normally have the exclusive use of these charming sites.

Cycling Challenge

You could also try our District Cycling Challenge, this is not for the feint hearted and covers a distance of 205km over two and a half days taking in our best countryside on some of our quietest lanes. You will need to carry all your camping gear but could lighten the load by eating out at the numerous excellent pubs and restaurants spread across the District. You will stay overnight at both of the Campsites and we will present you with certificates at the end.

To complete the challenge you will need to visit every Group meeting place in the District, you can select your own route but we recommend the one below. Given the challenging nature of this route we would recommend that it only be attempted by Explorers, Network and leaders. You can add an extra dimensions by finding the geo-cache at each meeting place.
