SCOUT POST - 5th to 19th December 2019 2019 was the 32nd year of our Christmas Post service and saw the service deliver approximately 50,000 cards across Bridport,
![]() Dorchester and the surrounding villages.
Yellow post-boxes are placed in shops at convenient locations in the participating areas where cards can be posted for less than half the price of a second class stamp (only 25p) between the 5th and 19th of December. Just drop your cards and your payment in the box and leave the rest to us, but please ensure your cards are correctly addressed and include a post code if you can. You will also need to check that your card is destined for one of our delivery areas, as we cannot deliver outside of these locations or to foreign destinations (we do get them!). If your card cannot be delivered for any reason (usually because it has no address), we will hang onto to it for the first two weeks of January and list it on our Undelivered Cards Page; you can contact us at scoutpost@dwdscouts.org.uk and arrange to collect it should you wish so to do.Can You Help?We always need willing volunteers who are prepared to spend an afternoon delivering leaflets and three or four evenings delivering cards to a small area. We drop off the leaflets and the cards to your home so that you can deliver them to houses in your area. There are no fixed timings, you can choose your evenings (or days) to suit yourself.
People like to volunteer for this because the work they will do in this period provides a useful and popular community service as well as raising much needed funds to support their local Scout Groups. Our Christmas Post volunteers make a real difference to local young people and enjoy giving something back to their community.
If you would like to take part delivering the mail in one of our many delivery areas or by helping in the sorting office at Bridport or Dorchester, we would very much like to hear from you.
Please contact Barry, Jen or Alf at scoutpost@dwdscouts.org.uk if you can spare a few hours and would like to be part of something very special this year.
